The family of late hero, Joseph Blankson, has received compensation from Rivers State Government. Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State, announced this while receiving the family in the State House.
36-year old Joseph Blankson died while rescuing 14 people from a boat accident last month. He had rescued 13 persons and was rescuing the 14th person when he died.
The Government opened an education endowment fund for his children and the wife of the deceased was offered immediate employment to enable her support her children.
The Governor commiserated with the family of the bereaved and it is said that he also donated funds to the burial expenses of the late hero.
