The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has called for an independent investigation into the recent invasion of the National Assembly by operatives of the Department of State Security Service (SSS), as part of reactions that have continued to trail last Tuesday’s siege at the National Assembly.
DSS Officials in the early hours of last Tuesday, laid siege to the National Assembly complex, preventing lawmakers, journalists and other staff from accessing the complex.
The siege was said to have been orchestrated to aid the impeachment of the Senate President, a claim the ruling All Progressive Congress has vehemently denied.
The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, had thereafter, ordered the immediate dismissal of the Director General of the Service, Lawal Daura and replaced him with the most senior official of the Agency.
Mr Bukola Saraki, on his twitter handle, has however, called on the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to order an independent judicial panel of inquiry into the siege on the National Assembly.
He said, “The very serious questions about last Tuesday’s siege on the National Assembly can only be answered through a thorough and neutral investigation.
