Presidency Urges National Assembly to Concentrate on Issues of National Interest
The Presidency, Monday, urged the National Assembly to dwell more on issues of national interest rather than engage in the subterfuge and drama currently being played out in the National Assembly.
Speaking on the heels of triplet victories in Bauchi, Katsina and Kogi states at the weekend, it said Nigerians were not interested in the unfolding drama in the legislature but urged the National Assembly to join efforts with the President to deliver on the onerous task of delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
Addressing State House correspondents at the Presidential villa, Abuja, senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu, dismissed the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s allegations of Votes buying during the by-elections.
He urged the party to toe the path of honour and accept the outcome of the election rather than conduct their affairs like a militant organization.
“It is appropriate, this time, to appeal to the National Assembly to collaborate with President Buhari, to ensure that we can deliver on all of these things. There are urgent matters that need to be attended to including shortfall in money supply for execution of the 2018 budget,” he stated.
