Man Claiming To Be EFCC Official Scams Pastor And Members Of Millions
Mr. Abiodun Adeyemi Faseyitan was arraigned before the Chief Judge of Oyo State High Court, Hon. Justice M. Abimbola, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 6-count charge of obtaining money under false pretense.
This is following a petition to the Commission from the pastor and founder of a new generation church alleging that the defendant presented himself to her and members of the church as a senior staff of the EFCC.
He promised to assist members to secure Federal Government jobs, purchase vehicles on auction sale in the EFCC and use his connection to help them to travel abroad.
The defendant is said to have fraudulently collected the sum of N2,477,500.00 (Two Million, Four Hundred and Seventy Seven Thousand, Five Hundred Naira) from the Pastor and several Millions of Naira from church members. All efforts to recover the monies proved abortive.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and the case has been adjourned to 7 September 2018 for trial. The defendant will be remanded at the Federal Prison, Agodi, pending the hearing of his bail application.
