Claudio Marchisio bids farewell to Juventus after 25 years at the club

Claudio Marchisio, veteran Italian footballer, has announced he’s leaving Serie A champions Juventus by mutual consent after 25 years at the club.

The 32-year-old made his professional debut in Serie B in 2006 and went on to play 389 times for Juventus.

Following the confirmation of his departure, Marchisio posted an emotional goodbye to social media, alongside a picture of him playing as a child in Juventus kit.

He wrote: ‘I can’t stop looking at this photograph and these stripes on which I wrote my life as a man and a footballer.

‘I love this shirt to the point that, despite everything, I am convinced that the good of the team comes first. All the time.’

Massimiliano Allegri, Juventus Manager, said on Twitter: ‘I thank Marchisio for his years of fine service for this club. In my four seasons here, he has been a great player, man and professional.’

Marchisio made a total of 389 appearances in all competitions, scoring 37 goals, and won seven Serie A titles as well as four Coppa Italias.
